If there’s one place that’s far from the maddening crowd, it’s Kalbar. A cute little bustling country town that’s just 50 minutes drive from the heart of Brisbane’s busy city.
With a backdrop of the spectacular Scenic Rim, and surrounded by farms, lush green lucerne crops and historical homesteads, Kalbar, is a little piece of paradise combined with true country charm. Kalbar offers a sense of calm and peacefulness and of course, a good old-fashioned community welcome.
A little History
What was once originally known as ‘Engelsburg’ – home to early German settlers and their families, ‘Kalbar’ of today offers a little step back in time to the early architecture and streetscapes of the pioneering days.

This elegant long table lunch celebrating the best of locally grown produce cooked over fire and smoke.? The event featured award winning BBQ experts – ‘The Shank Brothers’ and highly regarded foodies – ‘Cuisine on Cue’ who took our much-loved ‘Barbie’, to a whole new level!

Throughout the year there are many great reasons to pop out to Kalbar and all of the picturesque neighbouring areas in the spectacular Scenic Rim.
There’s the bustling ‘Kalbar Country Day’ to stroll through, or the beautiful sunflower fields at the ‘Kalbar Sunflower Festival’, as well as all the fun of the fair at the ‘Kalbar Show’. Why not try all of the amazing dining experiences at ever popular ‘Scenic Rim Eat Local Week’ which features all the finest local produce. Maybe you’re a bit of a car fan and would love the chance to look under the bonnet of some of the finest retro cars at the ‘Kalbar Swap Meet’.
